Walk for Truth – Asbestos Kills

July 2013: Partnership staff Suhail Marino and Billy Quirke walked in the annual Walk for Truth, hosted by the Asbestos-related Research, Education and Advocacy Fund (AREA Fund) in Powell River, BC on June 22nd, to raise awareness of the hazards of asbestos and to honour victims of asbestos-related disease.

June 2013: Partnership co-lead Chris McLeod will speak about the promise and challenge of using workers compensation data in comparative, cross-jurisdictional research at the 23rd Conference on Epidemiology in Occupational Health (EPICOH) in Utrecht, The Netherlands on June 20. May 2013: The Asbestos-related Research, Education and Advocacy Fund (AREA Fund) is hosting the Walk for Truth on June 22 in Powell River, BC, to raise awareness of asbestos-related disease. Registration is now open.

Chris McLeod receives UBC Hampton Research Fund Award

May 2013: Partnership co-lead Chris McLeod is a recipient of a UBC Hampton Research Fund award for his project entitled “The health and well being consequences of the great recession: a comparative and cross-jurisdictional analysis.”

Steps for Life – Walking for Families of Workplace Tragedy

April 2013: On May 5 a 5km fundraising walk to help support families affected by workplace tragedy will be help at Burnaby Lake Regional Park. More

Day of Mourning

April 2013: On April 28 workers, families, and employers will remember those who have lost their lives to work-related incidents or occupational diseases. A ceremony will be held in Vancouver on April 26 at 10:30am. More information about this ceremony and others.
